Vision Board Workshop - Women in Property South West
Great morning collaborating with Association of Women in Property hosted by Thrings in Bristol where I delivered my Vision Board workshop. Vision boards provide a different and very powerful way of manifesting our goals, creating clarity of thought and focus, enabling us to build on those goals taking one action at a time. Every action we take brings us a step closer to achieving those goals and as the participants saw during my workshop, anything is possible - we just have to believe it and we will achieve it! Thank you to Natalia Sokolov at Thrings for championing the event. Taking the lead and being a contribution to others is what being a great leader is all about...hat's this item about? Tiverton School's Dragon's Den event
Delighted to be invited to Tiverton High School to support the students at their 'Dragons Den' event where they had to create a new online game. I wish I'd had an opportunity like that when I was at school - the students developed their skills in entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation, leadership, presentation skills, communication skills, teamwork, engaging and connecting with an audience etc. It was great to see our leaders of the future get out of their comfort zone and experience what it feels like to pitch an original idea to a panel of strangers and an audience of their peers. Great job, well done everyone. Thanks to Jessica Marks for creating such a fun and informative event and to my fellow judges Steve Lodge, Scott Baxter, Emily Pike for a lively and fun debate. What's this item about? Vision Board Workshop - Women in Property Devon & Cornwall
"Anything worth having doesn't come easily!"
We all experience roadblocks, things happen out of the blue, things don't go our way and it can be difficult to see a bright future ahead, a life we really want instead of a life we've ended up in!
I was delighted to deliver my "Believe it, Achieve it" vision board workshop to Association of Women in Property Exeter.
As part of my coaching practice I use this technique as a different way of looking at personal reflection and self-discovery around goal setting. Are you present in the moment or are you just moving from job to job, promotion to promotion, just like clocking in and out with your ID badge? When you hit a roadblock, using phrases like "I can't, I wish, I won't be able to" creates a negative space and reinforces our limiting beliefs. We get stopped, we tell ourselves we can't do it and we just give up!
During the workshop I used techniques to allow everyone to see that they can achieve ANYTHING! I can't wait to see what these ladies achieve in 2020.

Stakeholder Management
When we think about stakeholder management and how to engage diverse groups of people on a major project, it's not often we talk about checking our own behaviour as a Project Manager and the soft skill set required to manage many different individuals with differing viewpoints. I was delighted to be invited to the University of South Wales to share my insights and experience with the students currently undertaking their masters degree in construction project management. We had an interesting discussion around why stakeholders care about a project and what can we do as a PM to either leverage their support or mitigate opposition by addressing our behaviour as a leader. We looked at the Iceberg Model to understand the underlying reasons behind a particular viewpoint from stakeholders - why people have certain beliefs about the way things are done and what underlying structures (that may not be obvious) support those beliefs? We then looked at how we can influence others as a lead PM. After the discussion the students split into groups where they were presented with five different stakeholder scenarios and they had to work out how to deal with the situation and the stakeholder group. It was a great day of learning, discovery and fun! Thanks to Miranda Thomas. What's this item about? What makes it interesting? Write a catchy description to grab your audience's attention...

Mace - World Mental Health Day - Workshop
It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to deliver a workshop to the leaders at Mace for their World Mental Health Day event in Exeter, UK yesterday. We had some very open conversations around mindset - how our thoughts, reactions, responses and actions impact not only ourselves, but those around us. We looked at strategies for developing trust as well as how to add value to others and to our organisation as individuals. Rachel Thomas gave an incredibly poignant and informative speech about her journey of transition as a transgender individual. She talked about the importance of community and how the different communities that she's part of helped her and how Mace has been such a supportive employer, creating an open, accepting environment for her to thrive in. Thank you to Paloma Hermoso for inviting me and to her team for making me feel so welcome. What a great day. Keep on having conversations with those around you - you never know how you may inspire someone without ever knowing that you made a difference to them...

Toastmasters South West - Workshop Facilitation - Follow-up event
I am delighted to have been asked back to co-facilitate this workshop which is a follow-on from the Speaker to Trainer workshop from 2016.
“Workshop Facilitation” is a workshop that builds on the knowledge and skills acquired in the “Speaker to Trainer” workshop and designed to help participants to put the theory learnt in the previous workshop into practice. The workshop will give participants the opportunity to apply the steps in the Training Model to prepare an actual 45 minute workshop. Additional input on ‘the team around you’ and ‘workshop structure’ will further develop participants knowledge of the bigger picture of what is involved from the earliest stages of planning to successful delivery of a workshop.
By the end of the workshop participants would have a workshop outline that had been critiqued by fellow participants, myself and my fellow course leader. They will be aware of the steps they would need to take to develop their materials and outline to deliver their workshop. It is anticipated that participants would then have the skills and techniques to go on to deliver their workshop.
